Wild abandoned railway in centre of Paris
The wild abandoned railway in the centre of Paris
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24655733 For 32km (almost 20 miles) the tracks of Petite Ceinture snake through bustling Paris, isolated and largely unseen from street level in deep trenches, long tunnels, and bridges.

I came across a portion of this railway while exploring north of Montmartre earlier this year. I thought it was weird that a station was being used as a garden and a stretch of railway as a footpath, but was unable to find out what was going on. Now I know!

A pity it can't be reopened, seems a pity to have most of the infrastructure there but it being disused.
