Newbie question on behalf of a budding trainspotter
Hello
I've a nephew who's started trainspoting. I've a question about the line which has a crossing just to the south of Linton - do the trains travel north or south? Here's a map from Google, just scroll down a little to see the crossing : https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/...9e3d8d271f3e3c Thanks for anyone who can help.... |

I cant actually see any line.
Google Earth does not show a currently used line, However, Wikipedia suggests it (with Linton Station) was the Stour Valley Railway which ran from Shelford to Marks Tey which closed in 1967, leaving only the section from Sudbury to Marks Tey still in use. This may be of interest: http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/l/linton/ |

![]() Anyway, the old railway at Linton near me was gone in the Beeching era. ![]() My nearest station is Stoke (or Stoke by Clare) and it was on the Marks Tey - Cambridge line via Sudbury.
