Class 33 Cromptons

Here's a question for you Class 33 fans.
On each end of Class 33/0s are two lights (marker lights?) down by the buffers. Were these lights included when the locos were new or were they added later?

Answers on a postcard enclosing a £5 note, thankyou.

Tony.

As far as I can see they were for class 33/0 (D6500-D6585) and class 33/2 (D6586-D6597).

The class 33/1 which were modified from some class 33/0 don't seem to have them.

My book has photos of 33211 (Sept 87) and 33212 (Oct 81) with them fitted.

Perhaps they were removed at a later date ?
