Class 33 Cromptons
Here's a question for you Class 33 fans.
On each end of Class 33/0s are two lights (marker lights?) down by the buffers. Were these lights included when the locos were new or were they added later? Answers on a postcard enclosing a £5 note, thankyou. Tony. |

As far as I can see they were for class 33/0 (D6500-D6585) and class 33/2 (D6586-D6597).
The class 33/1 which were modified from some class 33/0 don't seem to have them.

So were they on the 33/0s when built?

According to my reference book (British rail main line diesel locomotives) the answer is YES .
