In general
Ukrainian railway electrified approximately only 45%. We have two kinds of current at railway-direct 3000 V and alternating 25000 V. Track gauge is 1520 mm. We have only two express trains: Kiev-Kharkov and Kiev-Dnepropetrovsk. Maximum speed is 120 km/h.
What about parameters in your country?

Hello Maximiljan, welcome to the forum.
We have about 20% of our railways (in the South of England) electrified with a third rail at 750V DC and about 20% electrified by overhead wires at 25kV AC. The speed limit under the wires on the main lines from London to Glasgow and Edinburgh is 200km/hr. other electric lines are limited to 160km/hr. Not all trains travel at those speeds, most do about 105km/hr. Large areas of the country are covered by diesel passenger trains, usually diesel multiple units. Very few diesel locomotives are used on passenger trains but are used extensively on freight trains. We only have one gauge; 4feet 8.25inches; 1430mm on the main railways although there are several short narrow gauge railways, up to 15km in length. I am sure that between us we will be able to answer any questions that you may have Last edited by Tony; 8th July 2011 at 21:44. |
