D5705 is on the East Lancs Railway at Bury, undergoing a long term restoration job. I understand it is being worked on by the same crew that are involved in restoring the class 15 and is 2nd in line to that one.

I did not realise that a type 15 loco had survived.
I may well have seen it when I was a mere boy as they were regular visitors through Wickford. ![]()

D8233. Survived by the skin of it's teeth, sorta thing. It's had several owners and moved about a bit, ended up at the east lancs with a small but keen crew to restore it.
There was a small article with photos in the August issue of Traction Magazine about these two locos. Further info on http://www.d8233.org.uk Regards, 62440. |

Good choice of date to go although expect it to be a lot busier than normal due to it also being the first day Tornado runs on the ELR. Not sure what other locos will be running but at the time there should be three black fives, the Duke, and the Jinty available,(all subject to change etc) Cheers John |
