Hello from Steve
Hello. I'm Steve and I live near Bracknell. I'm 58.
When I was v small (in the 50's) I lived in Brent Road Southall and my mum and dad used to take me to the end of the road right to the edge of the Paddington main line. I remember seeing the named expresses like the Cornish Riviera going past. My Grandad lived in Batley right alongside of the railway, and there were three lines going past the garden. Later we lived in Maidenhead and the grammar school was right by the railway too. (More Warships and Westerns by that time, but still some steam though). So trainspotting was a natural hobby for me. Lost interest once we moved to Southend though in the mid-60's. I got interested again a bit over a year ago on discovering how much main-line steam there was still running. Since then, have been to Oxford on the Hogwarts Express and to York with Tornado. I have taken some videos (with my phone) and they are here: http://www.youtube.com/moiunmouton And I like cats. Ours is called Frankie. ![]() |

Hiya Steve, and welcome. I had a similar background, living about 100 yards from the WR main line at Tilehurst from when I arrived new (Nov 49) to 1957, so my fate was also sealed at a very early age!
