Hello from Bedfordshire

Greetings.

I'm very new railways and all that goes with it, and I got into it from work. You'll have to excuse me if I ask lots of silly obvious questions, but I'm trying to expand my knowledge of the (huge) subject!

Hello Moose999 and welcome to the Railway Forum. There is no such thing as "lots of silly obvious questions". If you don't know the answer, then you ask the question. That is how we all learn. It does not matter where you get the answer from, asking someone, looking in a book, the Internet etc, you still need to ask. No one on this site would laugh at you for trying to learn.
