Record £14m fine for rail company (BBC News)
Network Rail is fined a record £14m after engineering work over-ran over Christmas and the New Year.

It's sheer madness.
We pay for NR, we fine ourselves (to all intents and purposes), and NR and the travelling public lose out. Insanity.

And that's what you get when Civil Servants and politicians are put in charge of something REAL. The professional rail managers (and there ARE some bloody good one's out there) have to obey idiots.
It's a typically Left wing deception. The railway has been re-nationalised by stealth because taxpayers are funding it and government is running it, but Brown is pretending that it's privatised by having franchises (which have to pay increasingly vast sums into the treasury every year). |
