I was very impressed by the Maglev between Shanghai and Shanghai Airport touching 400KPH for about a minute. 8 mins for 30 kilometres is better than 2hours by road!
The only thing is how much power does it use?! |

I think Maglev is only the begining of the quest for speed on railways, and within a few years trains will break the sound barrier.

Yet another British invention that the rest of the world has had the sense to develop.
I still cannot believe we buy tilting trains. All those brilliant ideas that came from our railway engineers. What a waste, still I suppose that the industry that has been razed to the ground to make room for multi screen cinemas and shopping centres was doing nothing useful really. Sorry chaps, I've got my angry head on to day. Paul. |

I remember seeing an early demonstration of the maglev principle on "Tomorrows World" when I was a kid.
