Class 31

I am hoping someone on this forum may be able to help me. I am interested in the loco numbers of those Class 31s that were allocated to Hornsey MPD (34B) when the Class was being introduced. I believe the first ones went there around 1959/60. Any help would be appreciated.

According to my book the first 20 pilot scheme order were shedded at Stratford.

Initially the Eastern region had a monopoly on them.

Hi les101975jud, according to the "Locomotive Stock Changes" column in Trains Illustrated issues Feb to July 1960 the following were allocated to Hornsey 34B, as new locos.

D5567/8/9. D5586/7/8/9. D5590/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9. D5600/1/2/3/4/5. D5606/7/8/9.

Hope this helps, Regards, 62440.

The first class 31s allocated to Stratford(30A) were nick named "Toffee apples" because of the style of the "power" controller.
