Hi all,
I've made a YouTube video documenting the Hog Hill Tunnel in Stanhope, England, which some consider to be the world's first railway tunnel. Please take a look and leave a comment if you wish. More of these to come ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtHLqOSjrsE Regards, Steve |

Opened 1834? The Wapping (or Edge Hill) tunnels into Liverpool dug for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway which opened in 1830, and over a mile long, appears to predate your little secret tunnel. If you do a bit of research on the Cornish tin and copper mining or the China clay industries, you will find many tunnels in existence during the 18th Century.
