Freightliner Container Trains on Mondays
Hi
I'm looking to go 'somewhere' tomorrow for photography. One of the deciding factors as to where to go is whether container trains run as often on Mondays as they do Tuesday to Friday. Living about 150 miles from their trunk routes, I don't have too much experience of them, but I seem to remember a few years ago that I was told that because the ports are quieter on Sundays, then the container trains are less on Mondays. Is that the case? Thanks ![]() |

Mondays do appear to be less busy on the WCML, i go to Stafford station on Tuesdays, sometimes there can be 25 freights through out the day. I realise you have a long way to travel but there are chaps who come many miles, including, ---- Yorkshire, N.Wales, Gloucs, and even London, most leave after a successful day. Best of luck with your quest.

Thanks. Stafford or Eastleigh are the options I was considering. If it's a lot quieter on Mondays, then maybe South Wales beckons.

The simple answer is Yes
From where you live then Southampton on any other day would be a good bet for Intermodal trains. Not sure where but I know that some go through Southampton Central Remember I live in Chesterfield so don't get many here either

Thanks both for your replies. I've just come back from Stafford which was mainly sunny and just had 10 minutes if rain. I was there between about 1pm & 7pm and in all 19 freights passed through (including the 325 mail train). I missed two by about 10 minutes as I passed them around Penkridge. 13 were container trains although not all were Freightliner.
In conclusion, it was worth the visit. |
