Put March 11th in the national rail search for future engineering works, there is overnight work between Hitchin and Biggleswade.http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/servic...%2F2012&toc=gr

![]() I was just about to start a thread about this. East Coast drivers are currently learning a diversionary route.... IE, Peterborough-March-Ely-Cambridge-Hitchin. So it will be great for spotters to see HSTs and the others (Hell Trains & Grind Central) crawling through Cambridge. Plus all the ECML freight activity. But of course by the same token it will make the current passenger services to Liverpool St & Kings X absolute murder. As regards to when - the EC drivers tell me that this has been done in the Standard Railway Way - ie, all at the very last minute amidst much rip/rig/panic. They all mentioned March as a target date, which agrees with what you've heard. Certainly there's plenty of groundwork going on to the NE of Hitchin/Cambridge Jn, so things are afoot. Hope this helps, FP. Last edited by Flying Pig; 30th January 2012 at 10:08. Reason: Because I want to ! |
