The Law Junction sidings were last used by EWS, who were running trains for 'Road and Rail Services'.
They ran 1S03 with a class 67 from Walsal to Aberdeen via Law sidings where it then detatched 4 postal coaches of the 8 it conveyed, then went forward to Aberdeen with the front 4 to Aberdeen.
EWS then had a purpose built loading platform built at Mossend Down Yard which cut Law junction from the journey, and so cut the time of the journey.
The problem with Law Junction was that to enter the sidings you had to get access via the groundframe, then propel back into the sidings from the down loop, which in turn closed the down west coast main line at Law until the frame was returned to the signaler by the groundstaff.
If the train ran late, it caused major delays and had serious financial penalty's for EWS, not only from the TOCs but DHL too for being late.
Only 2 of the roads at the sidings were used as all the others in the yard were clamped out of use.
