Gates to go up at danger crossing (BBC News)
New electronic gates are installed at a railway crossing in Wareham in Dorset to prevent pedestrian from continuing to cross it at red light.

It's a pity they can't do something like this at Downham Market, on the Kings Lynn line and where many people take chances on the foot crossing, even with the Sand Train passing through at speed. One Idiot, even gave a train-driver the 'V' sign for sounding the horn as he crossed in front of him. Network Rail wanted to install a foorbridge, but the local council rejected it last year, on the grounds that: 'It wouldn't blend in with the surrounding buildings.' if you can believe such garbage?
Perhaps WHEN somebody eventually does get hit, they will do something about it? I won't be holding my breath though.
