Billionairre Buys Railway

Warren Buffet has bought the Burlington Santa Fe railway for $26 Billion, the significance of this move is that this guy hardly ever makes a business mistake and if he thinks railways have a big future then its pretty dammed likely that they do.
I guarantee Britain will come to the same conclusion in about 50 years and wonder then why the rest of the world is so far ahead of us in rail technology

Does the name Branson ring any bells? It wont be long before the Virgin Brand spreads its wings just a little further. As these billionaires are usual front men for the financial backers and bankers they do trade heavily on their reputation for spotting a good investment. I think Branson will be the first in the queue for the old LNER in 2011.

Its a question of scale - if you make it in USA, its a massive market with huge returns. If you make it big in UK then you can carry your cash in a wheel barrow instead of dump truck. There arnt that many opportunities to get mega rich on these shores unfortunately.
