UK electrolocomotive in Hamburg ??

Hello
When travelling by train from Hamburg to Bremen yesterday afternoon I saw an electrolocomotive (black with the name Floyd in pink on its side) standing on a siding near Hamburg Harburg station. To me it had a close resemblance to locomotives I saw between Euston and Glasgow some 20 years ago. Could anyone tell me what this loco is doing there?

regards
Hans

Hello Hans,
The Hungarian open-access operator "Floyd" have purchased two British Class 86 locos. Along with the Class 87's these locos worked on the West Coast Mainline for many years so you will definitely have seen them on your travels between Euston and Glasgow. The one you saw was probably on it's way to Hungary.

Yes, the one in the photo has disappeared from LNWR Crewe, so I guess that was it.

Hello John,

Ah, that brightens the "mist" I experienced when seeing such a typical UK- style locomotive on the Continent
Thanks for the information,
Hans
