Fences aim to cut down rail crime (BBC News)

More than 4,000 metres of steel fencing is put up around railways in the South West to help cut rail crime.

That's about two & a half miles how many miles of track is there in the "south west" area?
But................... let's assume both sides of the track are being fenced that's one and quarter miles of track fenced!!!
Round 24 sites I think the BBC must have got the figures wrong!!
