Hello DSY011 and locojoe, I wish I was an ex-BR footplateman, but unfortunately i'm only 14, so have never ridden on the footplate of any kind of locomotive. I do make every effort to go to preserved railways though

Hi Danny don't wish your life away, at 14 you have you have your whole life before you and I'm sure at some time in the future you will get your chance to ride on the footplate of a locomotive.

Aye, hopefully will. I do voulanteer at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway at Ludborough near Louth. Obviously i'm too young to do any operating duties, but once I become 18 I want to get stuck in!
