G'day Everyone

city-regions.jpgG'day All, great to be on here, hope that I can get some useful help and advice on here, with regards to reopening the Colne to Skipton Railway, I am a active member of SELRAP (Skipton East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership), which have now been campaigning since the summer of 2001, and has come along way from Non starter to having overwhelming support, with at Present 198 MP's, 101 Members of the House Of Lords, 49 MEP's, 528 Councils across the UK, 51 Educational Bodies, and 154 Business's, and many more including NGO's.

I look forward to all your comments and feedback.

Simon.

Simon, welcome to the Forum and I really wish you success with this reopening campaign. I joined the Campaign for Borders Rail back in 1999 when it was first launched to reopen at least part of the Waverley line. Through dogged determination we have succeeded and the Scottish government finally agreed to the reopening from Edinburgh to Galashiels. It was unbelievably difficult at times but construction is actually starting and we should have the railway back by 2015. It can be done! In England it seems even more difficult to reopen any railway (I've spent half my life wondering just why it should be so difficult?) but I think the mad closure mentality of the 1960s has at last been discredited. Good luck and keep us posted.

Many thanks for your words of support for the project, funding the GRIP 3 study is the biggest issue at the min.

I visited this area a few years back and thought at the time that there was a huge gaping hole in the network here. I wish you good fortune in your endeavours to get this line reinstated.
