Simon, welcome to the Forum and I really wish you success with this reopening campaign. I joined the Campaign for Borders Rail back in 1999 when it was first launched to reopen at least part of the Waverley line. Through dogged determination we have succeeded and the Scottish government finally agreed to the reopening from Edinburgh to Galashiels. It was unbelievably difficult at times but construction is actually starting and we should have the railway back by 2015. It can be done! In England it seems even more difficult to reopen any railway (I've spent half my life wondering just why it should be so difficult?) but I think the mad closure mentality of the 1960s has at last been discredited. Good luck and keep us posted.

Many thanks for your words of support for the project, funding the GRIP 3 study is the biggest issue at the min.

A very warm welcome from me too Simon. Hope you enjoy our company. I love hearing about new projects and it warms the cockles of my heart to hear of so many people with the dogged determination to see it through. I am sure as all on here that we wish you all every success and look forward to your update.

Hello Simon and welcome to the Railway Forum.

I visited this area a few years back and thought at the time that there was a huge gaping hole in the network here. I wish you good fortune in your endeavours to get this line reinstated.

Welcome to the Forum Simon. Looks as if you have made great progress already. Look forward to more news from you.
