Thanks Pete. Might nip up to Matlock tomorrow as I have to go to Cromford Mill anyway.

Incidentally there is a great Model Railway Display at Cromford Mill until Sunday Evening 10.00am-4.00pm: Two large Layouts - 00 and N gauge. Well worth seeing.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Managed to get to Matlock this afternoon, resulting photos attached.

I understand that the NR panel will need to be slewed about 18 ins to join with Peak Rail's.

Am I right in assuming that the gates will be under the control of NR and will otherwise remain locked?

Best wishes,

John H-T.

it always happens like that!

the fence was not part of the original paperwork when NR went through land change as part of the works for the supermarket, realigned loop and bypass,so the gates would not be there in the final plan, doesnt stop putting something across there like the spa valley do down at the end of their boundary if ever desired,i believe theyre gate has the stop board upon it,in effect acting as a signal,as the board has a plated ID code on it similar to a signal ID plate.

next comes the platform tracklaying

have a good one,wel be working down there tommorow on some signalling, see you around!

My next question about the fence is WHY?
As Peak Rail is planning on running into Matlock Station the fence is either a Red Herring or a White Elephant

I have attached 2 photo's the first is Matlock Station showing a buffer stop at the end of the track at present and the second is a view from the Station towards the bridge where the buffer stop and fence are

The Fence does seem to say this is where YOU are staying and by the track being disconnected and slewed seem to me to a definite imposition of an obstacle especially as when I first visited the tracks were bolted togehter

Please note I have changed the web address of my Flickr gallery to

http://www.flickr.com/photos/peakrailprogress/

I have updated my signature so the link will appear in it in place of the Fotopic link.

Pictures of this weekends work are now in the gallery.

the fence; technically it shouldnt be there as it wasnt in the land sales agreements between the original parties, also when it was first put up the access to NR for off track items was over our headshunt via a side gate thats now gone hence why the new NR access is at the end of matlock station itself making more sense and a much better off track access.

box base to start next month, connection takes priority first boss, will be something along the same lines of construction as Holt signalbox on NNR,which il be veiwing in a few weeks time to see how the lads there did it!.
