Class 50 vs Class 52

Question Class 50 vs Class 52

which was best out of them,50-or-52,i would go with a class 50 though,whats your opinion?

Difficult to compare as the "Westerns" were hydraulic transmission as with most diesels on the Western Region at that time.
I saw all the class 52 in BR service and did many journeys behind them.
The only minor problem as I saw it was the fact that they were rather slow at getting up to full speed but once going they were as good as any other diesel of the time.
I remember the 50s when first introduced being used on the Crewe -Glasgow(Central) section of the West coast main line before it was electrified.
