Talking Ellesmere port coal trains.....

Has all this finished up there now?? not seen any class 66 or 70"s pulling any coal loads for while??

70002 was working the Elllesmere Port-Fiddlers Ferry circuit yesterday. Coal trains were suspended for about 3 weeks during the power stations annual maintenance shutdown.

Found realy good viewing point at the ellesmere port docks!! to look round the class 66"s and 70"s...........

Have all the oil trains stopped from there now.I haven't been down for years and since movin to blackpool haven't seen freight for ages.

The oil trains from Ellesmere Port (Stanlow Refinery) stopped about 15 years ago. For a while there was a solitary LPG working from Humber Refinery to Stanlow but that also stopped about 5 years ago.

Was god place to watch the oil trains at stanlow Refinery,then it all stopped!! all the tracks and sidings are still down there,along with few old mgr coal trucks.....

They are still running.
I saw the afternoon empties leaving Warrington for Ellesmere Port this afternoon behind 70003.

Thats good bit of news,wil have to go down to the port terminal,see if theres any freight wagons lined up.....
