Of course, there are always locos and coaches and wagons and structures etc that one would like to run on his layout or just to collect.
Please specify, if you please, for the model,
the scale (e.g. OO, OO9, HO, HOm, etc),
the system to run it (2-rail, 3-rail or DCC),
the manufacturer you would like to realize your dream,
and for the prototype, in addition to the common name or class,
the traction type (steam/diesel/electric)
the wheel arrangement,
the Railway Company,
the Epoch (I:1825-1925 or pre-grouping for GB,
II:1925-1946 or grouping for GB, III:1946-1965 approx,
IV:1965-1985 approx, V:1985 to this day),
the Livery,
a specific running number or name if such is the case.

As a starter, may I submit my wish (of course I am an Italian railfan).
If I write FS Gr.744, or LMS 6100, I would only be understood by a close circle of friends.
If I specify by the rules set above, I would like to see:
Scale: HO, 2-R, by Hornby International
Model of class 744 steam loco 2-8-0 + tender,
FS Italian Railways as running in Epoch III,
black livery (mandatory),
No.744.118 as preserved in Pietrarsa Museum.

I would like a Rhodesian Railways 20A class 4-8-2 + 2-8-4 Garrett, Loco Number 717. I want it in 2R 2mm scale and made with all the detail that Dapol or Fleischmann build into their models. If not that Loco, then any 14A 15th or 20th class Garrett from Rhodesia.

I probably would long such a model myself, just for History of Railways.
But even the Australian Standard Garratt would do for me (I have only seen these).
But tell me, should it run on 9 mm std gauge or pure 6.5 mm narrow gauge?

I'd love to see a Class 76 and a Class 17 Clayton in 2mm scale.

And if we're talking about completely unrealistic dreams, I'd quite happily start spending my hard earned pennies on RTR British and Irish outline narrow gauge stuff. Not exact copies of loco's, you understand, but stock that looked like it ran in these islands. Anyone fancy a Lough Swilly 4-8-4T?

I think a complete blue pullman set would have to be at the top of my list for my OO railway, followed closely by an LMS garratt

I have to toss in with the Garratt camp here. An Australian version in HO, although I'd take just about any Garratt I could get my hands on if it didn't break the bank.

I would not care if it ran on 9 mm std gauge or pure 6.5 mm narrow gauge, as long as it is a Garratt. Rhodesian, LMS or British industrial, Australian, S African, Argentine, Tasmanian, Spanish, Algerian, Dutch, Russian, India, Burma, Ceylon, Thailand, Turkey, Iranian, Indo-China, Brazil, Bolivian, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Sudan, Ethiopian, Senegal & Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (Ghana), Nigerian, Madagascar, Mauritius, Belgian Congo, Angola, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Tanganyika. All these countries ran Garratts. Any good model would be better than what we have now.
Six Garratts were built by the Italian firm Ansaldo in 1939 for use in Ethiopia. I have quite a lot of information on most of the Garratts from around the world, things like Class, Wheel Types, Cylinders Dia X Stroke, Boiler Pressure, Tr active Effort, Fuel & Water Capacity, Grate Area, Weight in Working Order, Heating Surface if anyone is interested.

I suggest you start writing about them on wikipedia, if you feel like it!
