Hello Ray and welcome to the Railway Forum. Sorry I'm not able to help with you Airfix question, I have never seen a copy of MR Constructor. I hope someone on the forum could help as there is a wealth of information on this site.

Welcome to the Forum Ray. Don't remember the article in the Constructor although I used to read it at the time, it is a long time ago. The best source of past copies of magazines that I am aware of is at The Vintage Carriage Trust at Ingrow on the KWVR. I realize that it too far away from you but it is very well organized and I have found stuff in there quite easily. Of course they may not have Constructors of that vintage!

The main problem with the conversion would be the boiler: the Cities had a Swindon number 4 and the Bulldogs a number 2, which was quite a bit smaller giving the Bulldogs a more delicate appearance. If you do start on the project please post photos to show you progress.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
