Help identifying trains
Hi railway forum!
I apologise for coming here simply to take advantage of your expertise but I need some help identifying a couple of train types. I hope that you don't mind and might be able to help. I'm doing some research on the human response to noise and vibration from transportation which involves simulated exposures of train pass-bys. We recorded some railway pass-bys on the west coast mainline and it would be useful to know which types of train we recorded. I've uploaded a handful of clips to youtube. Unfortunately the clips aren't very high quality, but any help identifying the train types and models would be much appreciated. Train 1 I think this is a Virgin Pendolino train. Maybe a class 390? Train 2 I think this is a Northern Rail train. Maybe a class 158? Train 3 I think this is a First TransPennine Express train. Maybe a class 185? Train 4 I don't have a clue what this is. Any ideas? Many thanks! Calum |

Hi Ian,
If you click on the train numbers in my post it will take you to the youtube videos. I realise now that it's not very clear that they are hyperlinks, sorry about that! |

Train 4 is a Class 350 but it looks like one of those recently delivered to First Transpennine Express for the Manchester-Scotland service. It is still awaiting its FTPE livery to be applied.
