It's amazing how 'the powers that be' can be so infinitely wise in retrospect? No-one ever assumed that PLACES WOULD GET BIGGER!

But how long berfore the resident steam locos are required to have all this modern equipment fitted or the track taken away from them?

Actually, I was wondering how this will all come about without being to the detriment of the heritage/steam services. Could be tricky, this one...

The Bodmin and Wenford should use this as leverage with the authorities to get them eventual access to Wadebridge.

Are there any shared use Heritage/NR lines in the Uk at all ?

Im all for that better still Padstow a beautiful run by the river camel but whats to say that the network dont come in and take over that aswell.
There has been talk for years about putting the rails back into Tavistock the A386 to Plymouth at peak times is one big car park.

Quite a few summers ago we used to run a service to Carne Point Fowey four trips a day on sundays with a class 150.
The train only went down and back as there is no platform to alight from at Carne Point and it was full and standing every time.

The closest thing I can think of is the North York Moors running services from Grosmont to Whitby.

Why do "they," need to do any thing to the line? They could just give the money to the B&W to run the service for them! .... and give full backing to B&W's efforts to get to Wadebridge. Padstow could be a bit more difficult as the track bed has been built on, although I think it is just about possible to build a diversion.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
