I think what makes this incident even worse is the way that the train was deliberately ambushed. This technique is similar to that used against the emergency services and is a blatant attempt to cause damage and personal injury. This isn't simply kids "messing around" and if they are ever caught the book should be thrown at them.

If they were ever caught, the law would probably give them some time on a overseas holiday after telling them that they must be good little children. The law in this country is just a big joke.

I can't stand it. Earlier this year I was on a Central Trains service out of Sheffield, and just as it pulled out it stopped and the conductor announced that we were being held up due to vandals on the lines. Eventually we left and as we did I saw a few people beside the track.

Exclamation

I don't normally agree with Northern but on this they should be applauded for taking this stance. Why should the guys and girls of our railways have to accept this as the norm? Its disgusting but high praise should be given to the driver of this service for bringing his train to a halt. I just hope he has the courage to get back in the cab and carrying on and not let this scum win.

A few weeks ago I was at Farington loop lostock Hall when I saw two lads in their late teens putting big stones on the track, if anything had hit them I am sure it would have been derailed, I rang the B.T.Police who arrived a few minutes later. What pleasure do these people get out of doing things like this.
