Mobile Maintenance Train

I got my first sighting of one of Network Rail's Robel Mobile Maintenance Trains (MMT) this week when MMT 4 visited Hastings on what was presumably a test or training run from their depot at Paddock Wood Keyland Sidings. There are eight MMT sets in use with Network Rail.
These self propelled works trains, described as "workshops on wheels", were first brought into NR service in 2015 and contain virtually everything needed for track maintenance jobs including two built in 2T cranes, tool stores and crew facilities. The key feature is an extendable covered work area, offering the workers protection from the elements and also passing trains on adjacent tracks.
