Level crossing near miss near Rye

On 28th November, a near miss occurred at a Level Crossing where the A259 crosses the line east of Rye, East Sussex. Network Rail said it was the tenth near miss in East Sussex this year.
It appears that the driver was attempting to beat the lights, but changed their mind at the last moment as the half barrier came down on top of their car. Fortunately, the car was still clear of the line as a Network Rail test train (described in the report as a freight train) passed in front of the car at full line speed.
