Reports elsewhere (official) say the Super D is now withdrawn from the gala and is replaced by class 40 D335.

Also there is now no early morning run past.

All locos barring 45407 should be facing North (subject to todays arrival being positioned that way ).

Cheers John

Sounds strange. I've had a look at the railway's Twitter account which states that it will be an all steam gala. Still rather worrying nontheless.

You could still be right, there is a outside chance the D might be repaired in time so it might be out and about.

Re the 40 it is easier to subsitute a loco rather than re-write the timetable and as the 40 is a diesel class which was around in the change over period and is green and steam heat fitted it would be the ideal choice.

Cheers John

From an official sounding source on another forum there is a post timed at 8.09 this morning saying that the Super D won't run, and the early morning photo shoot is off.

At 9.26 there was another post from the same poster, saying that valient efforts were being made to get it running, with an update and final decision promised by 3.00pm.

The 3.00pm update is that the Super D has been fettled and will now run. The early morning photo shoot will also now go ahead.

I hope I won't be getting up and away at just gone 6 o'clock to see a big green tin box on the ealy morning freights, or even nothing at all.

Another snippet gleaned is that all locos are facing Rawtenstall, except 45407

I think you should be ok Ken, (the source is official by the way) the D's problem was one which once sorted would be fine. she is a temperamental old girl though so she just might throw something else up before tomorrow, fingers crossed she behaves for you.

Have a good one, I might go up on Sunday for a while.

Cheers John

Can't make it I'm afraid. Got to prepare for the Ilkeston Exhibition on Sunday.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Glad to hear the Super D is on!
Look forward to your photos, as I am sure some will show in the gallery.
All the best
