Post Interest in Border Counties Railway & Kielder Viaduct

Hello
I am part of a history project funded by the Heritage Lottery based around 150yrs of Kielder Viaduct, which was part of the Border Counties railway line.
I am interested in personal stories of anyone connected in and around Kielder & Plashetts and who may also have memories of travelling over the Viaduct.
Please check us out on facebook (if you use this)........... seach for Kielder Historical Project. Do you know of anyone that worked on the railways in this area that you could refer me too.
Look forward to researching on here.
Thankyou
Julie Webb

Julie

Welcome to the Forum. I am too young to have personal memories of the lines in the Borders which closed in the 1950s and 60s. However, some 12 years ago I joined the Campaign for Borders Rail when it was set up to reopen the Waverley Line. It seems we have succeeded against all the odds, at least as far as Galashiels. I think it would be worth your while contacting them as there will be a vast store of personal knowledge about the Borders lines amongst the people there. Good luck.

Ian
