Hello, What trains would have been on the Preston to Bolton line circa 1840-1900

Hello, I wonder if anyone might be able to help me. I am an illustrator and I am designing some artwork for a beer label design. The Beer in question will feature a train on it, but I would like to be as accurate as I can. I know the little details can make a big differnce to enthsiasts or all kinds, Beer or Trains!

So What I want to know is what trains would have been on the Preston to Bolton line circa 1840-1900?

Any advice would be warmly welcomed.

Thanks in advance.
Ruari.

The Preston to Bolton line was in Lancashire and Yorkshire territory. I suggest a couple of books on the history of the L&Y might help stir the little grey cells.
