47500 & 47484
Well I am going to ask a Question now, which no doubt someone will think me "thick", but here goes. 47500 and 47484, were in British Rail days painted green, 47500 was Great Western and I cannot remember what 47484 was named, but are they still about today ?
If they are perhaps they have been renumbered or "summat". Anyone know please ? 48111 |

47500 war renumbered to 47770 at somepoint but I believe is awaiting work at Tyesley Musem don't know if she is green now but do know at one stage the name plates were removed and painted in rail express livery.
47484 is in private hands (sutton coldfield) I think?. Hope this is helpful Regards |

47484 was Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
The other two were 47079 George Jackson Churchward (might have been G. J. Churchward) and 47628 Sir Daniel Gooch, all four had GWR style brass nameplates but straight rather than curved. |

Working in the London area, including a stint on the Western, I became quite familiar with all four locos. 628 and 500 were Old Oak Common's no.1 and 2 choices for the Royal Train in the mid to late 1980s, though I did see 484 on it once.
I became even better aquainted with 484 when it became one of the Trainload Freight south Stratford based 47s, the livery used to go very nicely with the green Cricklewood / Forders "Binliner" train |
