The Lifeline Express

I don't know if anyone else watched "The Lifeline Express - India's Hospital Train" on BBC4 last night.

The Story of an Indian Train staffed by medical workers providing free health care to rural people who would not be able to reach a Hospital.

Specialist from large city hospitals give a week of their time to carry out eye, ear and other vital surgery on a train that is fully equipped with two opperating theatres travelling throughout India spending a few weeks in a location before moving on. The people who benifit call it "The Magic Train."

Very moving. Hopefully it will be repeated as it shows that railways have a vital social contribution to make, even in the 21st century.
