The sparks flew

G'day,
The ATSB report into an OUT of GAUGE wagon incident on the North Coast line has lobbed.
https://www.atsb.gov.au/media/577930...-009-final.pdf
OK, I kinda get the gist of this as I had seen something similar occur during wagon unloading down in Tassiemania.
Privatized Tassie Rail being dilapidated back then.
This wagon twist locks were supposedly automatic type.
Manual type have a handle which you turn around to lock and unlock.
The automatic type rely on upward and downward pressure to lock and unlock.
The forklift operator was having heaps of problems attempting to lift a 40 footer box off this wagon in Hobart yard.
My pressing the twist lock emergency release button didn't help.
So, he revved up his forklift and gave it one final big tug.
Yes, he got the box off finally, but the wagon floor actually lifted up off the bogies and slammed back down again.
Fortunately, the floor settled back onto the bolster pivot pins properly.
Anyhoo, I don't know what all the hype is about.
They shoulda used this PN wagon on the Blue Mountains.
The STUPID Korean wide body newbie interurbans being built are OUT of Gauge.
Consequently a heck of a lot of platform edge shaving is required.
Or the track hasta be shoved sideways.
They coulda just run this wagon back and forth and worn down the concrete edges.
Oh, and the Van Demonian railway is back under governmental control these days, so a proper railway again.
Steve.
