ELR DMU and Class 40 driving Day, Saturday 16 March

DMU Day, 16 March

Join us as we pay tribute to the stalwart DMU. These historic machines will be running on an all Diesel Multiple Unit Service timetable.

As an extra treat the Class 105 DMU, 51485 and 56121 which is nearing completion of restoration, will be on display on Platform 4 at Bury Bolton Street. These cars account for two of just three such cars in preservation and were built by Cravens Ltd of Sheffield from 1956 to 1959.

You will also have the opportunity to get behind the controls of the Class 40 D335! For just £10 you will be able to drive the preserved loco, under supervision, from Bury Bolton Street Platform 4 to Baron Street Crossing and back. Turn up and pay on the day.

Due to advance interest the Drive a Class 40 Experience is expected to be very busy.

Please note that ordinary travel fares apply during this one day event.
