The 91 club
Here's a little story I heard years ago. When the Class 91's first made an appearance on the East Coast Mainline, a lot of drivers who signed them decided to call themselves the 91 club.
One day in York messroom, one of these drivers mentioned that he was a member of the 91 club. A York driver was quite surprised to hear this, and said "Are you really?" "Oh yes" replied the 91 club member who went on to add that another couple of drivers who were in the messroom were also members of the said club. The other members duly stood up and agreed that they were indeed members, and they appeared to be quite proud of the fact. I think this perplexed the York driver and his colleages somewhat because the only 91 club that they knew about was a gay bar.
