Hello all, advice needed
I confess I know nothing about trains, but I joined in hope that some members may be able to advise me: My much loved brother Billy passed away in August after a long illness. He was a great train enthusiast, travelling all over the uk man and boy to indulge in his passion.
The family now face the distressing task of giving his belongings a new home. We knew he had books and other memerobilia, which we are keeping, but the dilemma is regarding a large catalogue of train magazines we came across while clearing the attic, some date back years. We have no idea if they have any value and are wary of taking them to a dealer as we are clueless. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Marie |

Welcome to the Forum Swiggy. Sorry to hear about your brother.
In general magazine are not worth a lot and the probelm is that they are heavy to post. The Vintage Carriage Trust at Ingrow on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway have a well organised section for back copies of railway magazines and might welcome donations of magazines which are sold to help restore the Vintage Carriages in their care. If some of them are very old: pre 1939, they may have a value. Best wishes, John H-T.

Sorry to hear about your loss, my sympathies to you and your family.
However, welcome to the forum. I would also second the suggestion of the VCT for magazines. StoneRoad

Thank you all for your replies. Donating the magazines seems the perfect solution, and a fitting tribute to Billy's memory.
Three weeks before he passed, for his 60th birthday, we arranged a trip on a steam train in the highlands in Scotland. He was invited up onto the engine but sadly didn't have the strength to pull himself up. But that aside, he said he had a wonderful time. I'm so glad we were able to do that for him. Thank you once again Marie |
