Thanks so much for that. A glorious sight and sounds. Absolutely wonderful. Had my heart pounding. Takes me back to seeing 'em roaring through Ealing like that 50 years ago!!

That is one nice piece of film, lots of memories in the whistle sound alone.

Is that the King that was restored at Quainton, if so I can remember seeing her in bits and I leant on the front buffer beam when she was stripped down, talknig to one of the chaps who was working on her.


Eat your heart out Mr privatisation nobody will ever be able to beat memories like that !!

Yes it is the Quainton Road engine.

It has its own website, http://www.6024.com, which includes the history of the loco.

You can also see the latest on the restoration of 6023 here:
http://www.6023.co.uk - with any luck she is now not too far away from a return!
