£1bn boost for high-speed trains (BBC News)

A deal is agreed to electrify the track between Edinburgh and Glasgow, which could cut journey times to as little as 35 minutes.

Its amazing its never been done before. Surely it must fall into the 'no-brainer' category of network improvements ?
