Nuclear flask timings

I am new to the forum and wondered if anyone knows the days of operation and the timings for the flask trains to Sellafield. My in-laws live in Arnside and I am trying to photograph the train on Arnside bridge. I am only, generally, there some weekends. I have seen them through Preston a few years ago but it seems they allways travelled at night. Any help is appreciated

Hello Saltworth and welcome to the Railway Forum. Sorry, but I am unable to assist with your query, but I'm sure someone on the site will.

there are some times for them through Preston here in the time table page

http://www.prestonstation.org.uk/

I also remember seeing them at Arnside southbound on saturday 30th may about 10.30 am - just after Leander went north on a cumbrian coast express

Nuclear flask train timings are not published for security reasons.

Quite right too I think !

I remember the Bo-Bo diesels that used to transport the flasks to Southminster (for Bradwell power station) in the late 60's / early 70's although I dont remember the locos in pairs like they seem to do now.

One reason why that branch line was not closed.

Thanks for your help, I will just make sure I have my camera every time I am in that vicinity. Security is obviously an issue with such a cargo but I don't think the timings are such a big secret. You may remember that BR tried to destroy a flask with a perfectly good 100mph Peak and failed!!
