Hello from MD, USA

Complete newbie here. I have always been fascinated with the hobby and am interested in getting started.

Can anyone recommend some books to get started?
Also, good websites as well.

Thanks and hope to hear back from everyone!

Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Welcome to the Forum.

What particularly interests you about Railways because there are so many books, film and web sites in can be a bit difficult to know where to start but we will try and help you!

This forum is probably as good a place as any to start!

Best wishes,

John H-T.

I joined the forum to see if I could get some help building my first model railroad. That is something I've been wanting to do for some time now. I am looking for help in every aspect, from what to buy, to how to do the layout to making great scenery. Thanks, I feel very welcome.

We have quite a few modellers on here Glenn, so you're pretty sure to get any questions answered. What scale are you modelling in?

If, like me you absorb information better visually, you might find the Right Track series of DVDs produced by British Railway Modelling Magazine useful. The two on building scenary might be particularly helpful. I think they are excellent.

Try this web site:
