Strike hits German rail freight (BBC News)

A German freight train drivers' strike brings transport in the east of the country to a near standstill, DB says.

That is not good news, for Germany, and railfreight in general. Rail customers are quick to look to alternative transport for their product in these circumstances. Surely no-one wins in a strike situation. A 30% pay rise demand is rediculous.

With all the "open access" operators in mainland Europe it might not necessarily be road transport that gains.
SBB Cargo might be hoping to recoup some of the work that Railion has pinched from them in recent months
