Multi-regional stations

I am getting my models together with a view to building a layout in the attic.
My locos are MR, WR, ER.
My question is this.
What stations on the network, had regular interregional trains in the early 60's.
I only managed to get to Doncaster as a youngster. Money was tight .
My ABC contained MR and ER locos, 3 WR, and no SR.

Well mate, off the top of "me ead", Crewe had LM services obviously, but also a service from the Western.
Birmingham New Street had services from the Eastern, although not a regular one.
But I cannot think of one that had services from all three, but I am sure someone will "pop up" shortly to tell you.Best of luck with it anyway "good on yer".

Hi Mickey,
Any chance of listing your locos especially the Eastern ones?
Chester had regular LM and WR services hauled by most classes of locos (except Kings). You could also see some trains from the ER on race days and at weekends but they were rarely hauled by anything larger than a B1.

Hello Mickey,
Chester General had regular sevices from both LMS and GW, Cheshire Lines Committee services went into Chester Northgate, they were operated by LNER locos, 0-6-0's, 0-6-2T's and 4-4-0's mainly, some would probably get to Chester General from time to time.

I don't remember ever seeing Cheshire Lines locos at Chester General but you could always use a bit of modellers licence and bring forward the closure of Chester Northgate station from 1969 to the early 60's after which all services were routed into General.

Hi Mickey,
Now that I've seen your list I'm more inclined to go for somewhere like Banbury. Your GW and diesel locos would be OK for that area and your LNER J39 and A3 could have arrived via the branch from the Great Central. LMS Black 5's definitely ran through Banbury on inter-regional trains but I'm not sure about the Jinty.

Chester was inter regional I think, but as most places had many stations it is quite difficult.
If it helps, the GWR got as far north as Birkinhead.
Might help you in your searches.

Thanks John,
I never considered the Banbury area.

I have considered Chester, and Birkenhead. I know Manchester Exchange had an
agreement with GWR (running rights) up to 1943. Trafford Park shed catered for ER, GWR, and LMS engines.

I've got to tell you guys that when I do start, my layout won't be an accurate reproduction. I have not got the ability.
