Yes, definitely Banbury would be a good example. Oxford also saw some non-WR stuff including ex SR Bullieds. You are right about accuracy though. See my thread on Andoversford Jct. I would need a garage twice as big to have a totally accurate representation of the station and junction! I also don't really have the patience. We had a lovely layout called "Sheep Pasture" at the Grantham Railway Show last weekend, including the rope worked incline for wagons. Its based on a very accurate representation of part of the Cromford and High Peak Line (I think) and it was awesome in its detail and yet its simplicity. (a scale fox running through the woods etc) but the rolling stock was, by definition, very restricted as no large passenger locos would ever have used it for example. Nevertheless it showed just how skilled some railways modellers are. Blimey!

Aylesbury had Great Western, LNER and Metropolitain the LNER motive power changed to Midland region in 1958.
I am building a model of Aylesbury in 4mm scale P4 standards and its exactly to scale although the model only covers the station area and loco shed so the senic area is only ten foot long. The was also Southern region specials through the station too. David

Hello David,
1n 1958, Aylesbury had LNER B1's, V2's, occasional A3's ans various tank, 2-8-0 and 0-6-0 freight engines. The LMS contingent were Black 5's and 2-6-4T's. The Metropolitan trains changed engines at Amersham or Rickmansworth from Metro. Electrics (Sarah Siddons etc.) to LM tanks. Freight was mainly worked by 9F's from Annesley. GW pannier tanks worked the High Wycombe services, occasionally a Flying Banana diesel worked these services. I never saw any Southern there.

There is this photo of a Merchant Navy at Aylesbury, I have also a photo of a rebuilt West Country, I have never seen a photo of a GWR diesel railcar only auto trains.

Hi David,
This could have been a football special, Portsmouth or Southampton to the midlands? I saw at least three different "Bananas" at Aylesbury. I did a lot of spotting around the area from 1958 to 1960 whilst I was an Apprentice at RAF Halton.

Hi David,
I didn't own a camera in those days, my family had a "Box Brownie". I have no record of the Bananas, just remember the excitement at the time! Memory does have it's limitations after 50 years. I used to "bunk" Willesden and Old Oak Common about once a month on a Sunday morning - in RAF uniform, I never got stopped! (We weren't allowed to wear "civvies" then).
