Thanks for that. I remember 'Hoovers' taking over from Bo-Bo electrics at Preston. They didn't seem to have much trouble handling the 10 or 12 coaches detached from the electrics, although they didn't seem to have the character of class 40's or 47's and I think that most 'gricers' round Lancs thought they were a bit 'out of place' "up North". I have a pic of a '50' somewhere in 'the archives' along with some B&W pics of Black 5's from the same era.
