Wigan 1966

A recent post about Wigan set me thinking about my first visits to Wigan in 1966 (behind LMS 2-6-4Ts and Standard 4 4-6-0s from Liverpool Exchange).

I have vague memories of the remains of the L&Y shed sites just before going under the WCML into Wallgate. Can anyone say just what remained in early '66.

I believe that Wigan L&Y was demolished as soon as it was closed. The site became a scrap yard for several years which obliterated all signs of the shed and yard.
